Microsoft Project (Non-Enterprise) (2 Days)
Overview
A practical course using a hands-on approach, covering the fundamentals of project management, as well as how best to use the software. In this 2-day course, we teach the functionality of Microsoft 2002/2003 in a correct project management context. We do not use the enterprise functionality of Microsoft Project.
Objectives
Teach students how to do the following using Microsoft Project
1. Building Project Schedules
- Produce schedules using basic types of task relationships
- Compress and optimize schedules
2. Managing Resources and Multiple Projects
- Appreciate the basics of resource management in MS Project
- Solve resource related problems using MS Project
- Understand the resource management limitations of MS Project and the work arounds
- Understand the basics of MS Project in a network environment
- Resolve multi-project resource conflicts
3. Keeping Projects on Track
- Accurately represent project status
- Aggressively get projects back on track
Course Length: 2 Days

Equipment and Facilities
1. Computer & Software
- One computer system per student is recommended
- Printer - This is optional, but desirable. The type is not important
- Each Student computer should have properly loaded before the start of the class
3. Facilities
- Overhead Projector - Clients are requested to provide an LCD projection device and a basic overhead projector
- Materials - White board, an easel, colored markers
- A conference/training room and privacy is required
